DUCHAMP PGM 4: NUDES DESCENDING
Duchamp's canonical painting, "Nude Descending the Stairs", has exerted a profound influence on artists and has generated an enormous amount of commentary by art critics and scholars, but less recognized are the ways it has resonated with and inspired film and video artists. This program focuses on moving-image works – many of them made in the last 15 years – that evoke, adapt, or pay homage to this seminal painting, in a wide variety of ways.
