IT’LL BE OK / ALLES WIRD GUT
Directed by Bernd Sahling
"Bernd Sahling's documentary follows the young punk Michael as he struggles to reconcile his identity and the reality of living in East Germany. He eventually applies for an exit permit and leaves for the West not long before the Fall of the Berlin Wall. The film explores Michael's strained relationship with his mother, his path toward financial and intellectual autonomy, and thematizes the physical as well as the mental barriers one has to overcome in the pursuit of freedom." –DEFA FILM LIBRARY
